Paddle With Us
Our team for 2014 is filled but you can still have the chance to paddle with Hope Floats NC during this year’s tour. If you like to paddle, want to give cancer a good paddling, come out and join us for a Taste of the Tour. A Taste of the Tour is open to paddlers who would like to join us on the first day of our Tour paddling from Raleigh to Smithfield. The trip from Raleigh to Smithfield is 30 miles and will take about 10 hours to make. It isn’t a trip suitable for beginners but if you have done some day trips or a little river paddling before and think you are up for the challenge, this might be the trip for you. The cost for a Taste of the Tour is $40 per person and includes shuttle from Smithfield to the launch site at Anderson Point, and an event T-Shirt. If 30 miles sounds like a little too much for you, let us know ahead of time and we will make arraignments for you to meet the team for lunch in Clayton and paddle the last 14 miles of the day. For more intermediate and advanced paddlers who are up for a little more adventure you can try a Slice of the Tour. Paddlers on a Slice of the Tour will be able to join the team for 2 consecutive days of the tour. Paddlers can pick a pair of days with shorter mileage or go for a big slice of nearly 60 miles. Paddlers taking a Slice of the Tour will camp overnight with the team and get a real feel for what it is like to make a long distance paddling trip. The cost to join us for a Slice of the Tour is $80 per person and includes dinner on your first day, breakfast on your second day, an event T-Shirt and shuttle from your takeout back to your vehicle where you joined the tour. Paddlers who wish to join us for the last day of our tour can participate in the Stand Up Against Cancer Day Trip. This event reaches out to our stand up paddle partners and will be a 24 mile paddle from New Bern to Oriental. This is a more challenging day of our 2014 tour and is not recommended for novice paddlers. The cost to participate is $40 per person and includes shuttle from Oriental back to New Bern and a 2014 Tour T-Shirt. Participants joining us for any of our events are responsible for their own equipment. You will also be responsible for your lunch, snacks and beverages while on the water paddling. If you are camping overnight on a Slice of the Tour you must provide your own camping gear. After registering you will get a detailed list of items that you may need while staying overnight. Registration fees are non-refundable. Our 2014 Tour will take place rain or shine. To join us just go to our online store and click on your choice of package. All participants are required to fill out a release of liability before participation.
*Deadline for registration is March 8th, 2014*
Please note that this is not a leisurely paddle. Our team is on a mission and we have many miles to cover. Participants should have no expectation of a slow lazy day on the river and are expected to keep pace with the team. Also please be aware that the last day of the tour is in relatively open water and to participate on that day paddlers must have previous open water experience and be paddling a craft suitable for open water conditions. If you have questions concerning paddling with us during the Tour, please contact us using the form below.
