Paddle With Us
Our team for 2013 is filled but you can still have the chance to paddle with Hope Floats NC
during this year’s tour. If you like to paddle, and think you have had a “Temporary Lapse of Sanity” just like we have, come out and join us for a Taste of the Tour. A Taste of the Tour is open to paddlers who would like to join us on the first day of our Tour paddling from Raleigh to Smithfield. The trip from Raleigh to Smithfield is 30 miles and will take about 10 hours to make. It isn’t a trip suitable for beginners but if you have done some day trips or a little river paddling before and think you are up for the challenge, this might be the trip for you. The cost for a Taste of the Tour is $35 per person and includes shuttle from Smithfield to the launch site at Anderson Point, and an event T-Shirt. If 30 miles sounds like a little too much for you, let us know ahead of time and we will make arraignments for you to meet the team for lunch in Clayton and paddle the last 14 miles of the day.
For more intermediate and advanced paddlers who are up for a little more adventure you can try a Slice of the Tour. Paddlers on a Slice of the Tour will be able to join the team for 2 consecutive days of the tour. Paddlers can pick a pair of days with shorter mileage or go for a big slice of nearly 60 miles. Paddlers taking a Slice of the Tour will camp overnight with the team and get a real feel for what it is like to make a long distance paddling trip. The cost to join us for a Slice of the Tour is $80 per person and includes dinner on your first day, breakfast on your second day, an event T-Shirt and shuttle from your takeout back to your vehicle where you joined the tour.
Participants joining us for a Taste of the Tour or a Slice of the Tour are responsible for their own equipment. You will also be responsible for your lunch, snacks and beverages while on the water paddling. If you are camping overnight on a Slice of the Tour you must provide your own camping gear. After registering you will get a detailed list of items that you may need while staying overnight. Registration fees are non-refundable. Our 2013 Tour will take place rain or shine.
