Essential Paddling Gear:
My friends–I never paddle alone, not so much for safety reasons, just because the experience is so much richer when it is shared, both in the moment and in remembering it later.
I love to play practical jokes on people and will wait patiently until just the right moment to spring one on an unsuspecting victim.
What has influenced her life:
My daddy–he has taught me to never take a single day for granted, to always stop to appreciate the seemingly small things, and most importantly that the small things are really the big things.
In her own words:
Initially began paddling with Hope Floats NC because it was a personal challenge to try to push myself to paddle so many miles, but it quickly became a way of being grateful for my good health and remembering not to take it for granted because that could change for any of us in an instant; I met some amazing people along the way who are not letting cancer get the upper hand and I am learning from their courage.
“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body. But rather, to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up,totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming …. WOW what a ride.” -Mark Frost
