Richard “Dick” Rodgers
Married to Jackie, a breast cancer survivor. Grown kids: 2 Jackie’s ( Mark & Holly each with 2 kids = 4 grandkids); 2 Dick’s (Julie and Becky) – scattered all over the world.
Where he’s from:
I grew up as an Army brat and moved around quite a bit, but family roots were in North Carolina (Washington). I spent my high school years in Fayetteville and managed to matriculate UNC on a Navy scholarship. Home is now in Southport, but work in DC.
UNC ’71 (BA). Central Michigan ’79 (MA)
29 years in the Navy as a P-3 Naval Flight Officer chasing submarines all over the world from bases all over the world. Two years on USS Nimitz. Ten years in the Pentagon. Now a lobbyist /consultant at the Livingston Group in Washington DC.
What has influenced his life:
A wonderful Aunt Tillie; a good friend, Dennis; a good friend Kathy; and my wonderful wife and life-motivator, Jackie – all suffered from cancer.
I have paddled the Cape Fear and the Black River with Richard Folsom – looking forward to the Neuse. Go Tar Heels! Also, Go Navy, beat Army!
